There’s a big difference between owning clothes and having them work for YOU. That difference is often found in one relationship: With your tailor. Working with Devin last year reminded me of this: understanding what he needed before he even said it. Function, fit, season, timing...these are all factors a tailor considers quietly, almost instinctively, before touching the garment.

When you work closely with a Taylor LOL, you start to notice the subtle patterns in how garments interact with your body. You learn how to recognize the moments when something needs a small adjustment versus when it’s perfectly fine as is. That awareness changes how you see your wardrobe.

Tailoring is about more than altering clothes. It’s a conversation between the person wearing the garment and the person shaping it. Every choice, like how a sleeve falls, how a shoulder sits, how a hem moves, carries effect. Understanding those details helps you make smarter decisions about what to wear, when to wear it, and how it will feel on you.

NOTE: Not every alteration is worth it!! Some changes like adjusting structure, proportion, or fit completely transform a garment. Others make almost no difference. A good tailor or "Taylor" helps you see which is which and why.

“This feels too big,”

Is something I hear a lot from client.

However, most of the time they are just missing structure or proportions in the right place for their body type.

Tailoring preparation

The real value in tailoring and building a wardrobe that is personalized to you is in the subtle shifts. The way a better fit changes how you carry yourself, how a small adjustment can make a piece feel entirely new. That's the perspective a Style Coach brings: a quiet, expert eye on the relationship between you and your wardrobe.

With that kind of guidance, getting dressed becomes less about guessing and more about clarity. You start to see your closet differently, noticing details you once overlooked and understanding how thoughtful changes can elevate even the most everyday pieces. Ciao For Now, Taylor
